As Pix 11 reported, On June 12th an 86-year-old pedestrian was tragically killed in Brooklyn on Wednesday when a Department of Transportation truck struck him, causing a fatal injury. The incident occurred in the Bay Ridge neighborhood and has left the community in shock.

On Wednesday afternoon, around 3:30 p.m., an elderly man was crossing the street at the intersection of 92nd Street and Dahlgren Place in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, when a northbound Department of Transportation truck struck him. The impact resulted in the man being decapitated, according to police sources.

Responding officers and emergency personnel arrived quickly at the scene. They found the man, whose identity has not been released, with severe and fatal injuries. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene following the accident and is cooperating with the investigation, according to authorities. The area was taped off as police conducted their investigation, with video from the Citizen App showing the heavy presence of police and emergency vehicles.

The New York City Department of Transportation has yet to release an official comment regarding the incident. The community of Bay Ridge is mourning the loss and seeking answers as to how such a tragic accident could occur.
