According to police, the young boy ran into the street when he was hit by a 2008 Honda CRV traveling southbound. The child suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The boy had apparently come from the nearby Poppenhusen Playground and was not accompanied by a parent at the time of the incident.
