THE BRONX FATAL SCOOTER CRASH LEAVES 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL DEAD

On May 28th a tragic accident in the Bronx's University Heights left a 15-year-old girl dead and a 19-year-old man critically injured when their scooter collided with an SUV. The driver of the Honda Pilot SUV stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the police.

A tragic accident in the Bronx on Tuesday, May 28th’s afternoon left a 15-year-old girl dead and a 19-year-old man critically injured when their scooter collided with an SUV. The incident occurred in the University Heights neighborhood and has left the community in shock. 

As reported by the New York Post the fatal collision took place shortly after noon on University Avenue near West 192nd Street. The 16-year-old girl, who was riding on the scooter, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 19-year-old companion, who was driving the scooter, sustained severe injuries and is in critical condition at St. Barnabas Hospital.

Both the scooter and the Honda Pilot SUV were traveling northbound on University Avenue when the crash occurred. According to the NYPD, the Honda Pilot clipped the back of the scooter, causing the teenagers to be thrown off. When officers arrived, they found the teens unconscious and suffering from severe head and body trauma.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, a 22-year-old man, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation. So far, no charges have been filed.

Residents of University Heights are mourning the loss of the young girl and praying for the recovery of the injured teenager. The relationship between the two teens is not yet clear.

This tragic incident highlights the dangers that can arise on busy city streets, especially for those on scooters and motorcycles. The NYPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine if any further action will be taken.
