Brooklyn Driver Kills Pedestrian at Linden Blvd Crosswalk

In a tragic incident on March 18th, a pedestrian lost his life while attempting to cross Linden Boulevard at Ashford Street in East New York, Brooklyn. The collision, occurring around 1:20 p.m., involved a 36-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Linden Boulevard. This unfortunate event has brought attention to the longstanding safety concerns surrounding this intersection.

As Eyewitnesses News has reported, the victim, a 36-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed by authorities, was within the designated crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Linden Boulevard around 1:20 p.m. The impact of the collision proved fatal, leading to his demise shortly before 2 p.m. Despite the driver, a 59-year-old male, remaining at the scene, the sheer force of the collision was evident from the shattered windshield of his Chevy sedan.

Of significant concern is the driver's history of speeding violations, with a staggering 10 camera-issued tickets since 2021, including multiple instances within the past year alone. Furthermore, the intersection where the tragedy occurred has witnessed a grim history, with two fatalities and numerous injuries recorded over the past decade. Recent events serve as a chilling reminder, with another individual falling victim to the intersection's dangers just weeks prior.

Linden Boulevard, designated as a "Vision Zero Priority Corridor" under previous administrations, has yet to witness substantial safety enhancements despite promises of improvements. While measures like expanded pedestrian islands and tactile warning strips have been implemented, the intersection of Linden and Ashford remains relatively unchanged, amplifying concerns regarding pedestrian safety in the area.
