As reported by the NY Post, on Thursday, April 25th around 4:30 p.m. a tragedy occurred in Sheepshead Bay. A 77 year-old grandfather from Brooklyn lost his life in a parking dispute that involved his own car.
Iosif Lontsman exited his Subaru Forester to talk to the 43 y.o. woman driver, at Avenue W and Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. Sadly, as he got out, his car, still in gear, hit him, trapping him between the Subaru and the woman's Nissan Altima.
His son Mark remembers his father as someone who possessed a calm demeanor and showed respect, especially towards women. He stated that his father, Iosif, wouldn't have resorted to anger, particularly towards a woman.
Mark described his father as always maintaining composure, even in potentially tense situations like parking disputes. He believed Iosif would have approached the situation politely, out of respect, without any hint of fury.
Witnesses described the terrifying scene as the driver of the Nissan tried to help but couldn't stop the accident. Iosif Lontsman, originally from Kazakhstan, died from his injuries after being taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. No charges were filed as the incident was considered an unforeseen event.
